Clermont
The charming city of Clermont in Florida, the United States of America, has the distinction of being the largest city in the Lake Country district.
Sitting on eleven pristine freshwater lakes known as the Clermont Chain, the city is known for its dramatic rolling hills contrasting with typical flatlands in north central Florida, that are connected to the Paltlakaha River. The joyous colors of the orange grooves and its blossoms dot the hilly scenery of the city.
The laid-back and hot summers in the area typical of Floridian weather are normally cooled down by the freshwater lakes, including Lake Minnehaha to the south and Lake Minneola to the north of the city. The cool and soothing climes are inviting to guests and locals alike to find a quiet spot to indulge in water activities like fishing, canoeing and swimming.
Located close to Orland, Florida, the city’s downtown area has preserved much of its charm, with its history and traditions as still in keeping as it was 50 years ago.
In fact, recently celebrating its Golden Anniversary in 2006 was the Florida Citrus Tower, one of the first famous landmarks in the entire state of Florida. Guests can climb over 200 feet above ground to look out onto its glass observatory for the most breathtaking view of the country’s citrus groves across its hills.
For those interested in the delights of shopping in a more urban setting, there is the largest shopping complex in Lake Country, the Plaza Collina on State Road 50.
