Davenport
The charming tiny town of Davenport in located in the state of Florida in the United States of America. This city in Polk County is an area of solitude and escape for those who want to enjoy the seaside climate of the state without the throngs of vacation-goers at the same time.
Considered a citrus growers haven, the area is considered a more rustic venue than its neighbors Kissimmee and Orland. Guests wanting to enjoy Walt Disney World without heading over to the more traditional areas, will enjoy the proximity of Davenport to such fantastic and magical theme parks.
Guests will also enjoy the Lake Wales Ridge area whose rolling hills against it, form a breathtaking lakeside vista. The Bahama Bay resort is also a notable favorite located by Lake Davenport—in its seaside accomodations though just a stone’s throw away from the adventures of the Disney Theme parks.
Those seeking a diverse visit will be delighted to find the former Davenport Museum of Art, today called the Figge Art Museum as well as the Bucktown Fine Arts which houses a number of art studios in a historic architectural marvel.
Davenport’s riverport area is well preserved—with visitors coming by for a gentle stroll to see eagles fish in the river during the winter or hop on one of the barges for a rivertour in the summer. Nearby there is a museum of local music at the River City Music Experience.
Visitors in the summer are treated to wonderful festivals and events such as the Beaux Arts summer festival with its wide array of activities in celebration of arts and local craftsmen. Then there is also the Bix 7, an annual runner’s race that draws thousands with its camaraderie, competition and great music and food.
