Daytona
The gorgeous resort area of Daytona Beach in the Volusia County of Florida, United States of America is known throughout the world.
Daytona Beach is a city traversed by both the Halifax River lagoon as part of the Intracoastal Waterway as well as the Atlantic Ocean. To the north of the city is Holly Hill and Ormond Beach, while to the south are the famed Daytona Beach shores, South Daytona and Port Orange.
The world reknown Daytona Beach shores stretch over 20 miles across plentiful white sandy coasts. In fact, the Daytona Beach Flea Market on the weekends cater to the sun-loving guests and locals for hand-made crafts and art items.
But aside from its tropical climes and pure white sand, is another city icon—the racecar.
Daytona Beach has been known also as a capital for motosports—with the both the Daytona International Speedway and the old Daytona Beach Road Course home to several international races for over a century.
In fact, visitors can head over to the ultimate motorsports attraction called Daytona USA. Guests can learn about racing’s history and the thrill of the sport as they ride simulators that give them a chance to sit right in the driver’s seat at the famous Daytona 500.
The need for speed is most felt by the city in early February when over 200,000 NASCAR fans come to attend the season-opening Daytona 500. Aside from the famed NASCAR Daytona 500 races, there are also other events such as March’s Bike Week and July’s the NASCAR Pepsi 400 race, and October’s Biketoberfest.
